For 48 years, Live Oak Landscape Construction Co. has helped homeowners create outdoor spaces that bring beauty, function, and joy to everyday life. We're local, family-owned, and we stand behind every project we build.
Live Oak Landscaping was founded in 1978 by John Gilpin and James Clabaugh after they graduated from Cal Poly with a bachelor of science in horticulture. What started as a two-person operation in Vacaville has grown into one of Northern California's most trusted design-build landscape construction firms.
We are a local, family-owned business headquartered in Downtown Vacaville. Our most tenured employees have been with us for over 35 years. That kind of continuity shows in the quality of every project we build.
Our primary service areas are Napa and Solano Counties. We also serve Sonoma, Marin, Yolo, Sacramento, and Contra Costa Counties.
Andrew is a second-generation landscaper who worked in his father's landscaping company in Wisconsin before earning his bachelor of science degree and transitioning to project management. He joined Live Oak in 2022 to carry forward the company's legacy of exceptional outdoor spaces.
John co-founded Live Oak in 1978 after graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in horticulture. His vision and standards have shaped every aspect of the company for nearly five decades.
A selection of Live Oak Construction projects, each one a practical vision built right.
A bare dirt backyard turned into a clean, functional outdoor space. Concrete pavers, fresh sod, cedar raised garden beds, and a new privacy fence give this Vacaville family a yard they actually use.
A full backyard overhaul in Danville. Large-format porcelain pavers, premium artificial turf, a cedar pergola with dining area, stone retaining walls, and fresh garden beds with black mulch give this family a clean, low-maintenance outdoor space they can enjoy year-round.
A weed-filled, poorly graded backyard transformed into a level entertaining space. Concrete patio, a simple fire pit seating area, a CMU retaining wall, and low-maintenance planting along the fence line.
